The new Club President
Keith Blaikie, Royal High Captain in 1979/1980, was elected as Club President at the AGM on 15th June 2026. Keith has supplied an paragraph or two to introduce himself to our readership.
I am honoured to be elected to the position of President of the Royal High Club at this time in our school’s history. I attended the RHS preparatory school 1967-1974, and the RHS at Barnton between 1974-1980, where I was School Captain in my final year. This led on to studying Medicine at Edinburgh University, graduating with BSc Hons [ Med Sci ] in 1984 and MB ChB in 1986.After five years of junior hospital posts, a rewarding 30 year career in Medical General Practice in central Edinburgh then followed, until retirement in 2021. I played rugby for the RHSFP club 1st XV between 1982-1994, and have been the Captain of the RHSFP Golf Club since 2024.
To be a Former Pupil of the Royal High School is to be a small part and product of an amazing educational establishment with a remarkable history stretching back over the centuries. The 2026 School Annual Report describes the continuing high quality educational experience that is offered to all pupils in the present day. This inspiring document reflects the dedication and hard work of the current management and teaching staff. As President, I would like to encourage more active involvement and participation from members of the FP community to help support the ongoing evolution of our grand old school as it approaches the 900th birthday celebration in 2028.It would be good to see a few more FP faces at the Edinburgh Club Dinner which will be taking place next March !

Welcome to the ‘New’ RHS Club website, which started in 2021. The previous one one originated in 2002, and worked well for many years. It has been recast in WordPress, whose contemporary look will hopefully resonate with our contemporary readers.
Please bear with us as we develop the pages; the good thing about websites and their contents is that they are almost infinitely updatable, and this one will be extensive. In the meantime, the legacy site will continue to be available in abbreviated form for as long as is necessary, and much other information is available via the digital history, and also on the RHS London Club site. Information about past, current and future events will appear on the Events and News pages – please take note and stay involved.
